We stand up for people with muscle or nerve diseases.

These diseases are severely disabling and in some cases even fatal. For many diseases, no causal treatment exists yet and we can only offer support and care. For other diseases, a treatment already exists, but needs to be further optimised to maximise prognosis and significantly improve patients' quality of life.

In particular, the focus is on the following aspects:

  • Total care for patients with muscle and nerve diseases: optimal medical and paramedical diagnostics, treatment and counselling.
  • Trial centre for clinical studies in patients with muscle and nerve disorders: testing new treatments, including the most innovative treatments such as gene therapies.
  • Translational research: discovering and validating new outcome measures and biomarkers for various muscle and nerve diseases, which can then be used in clinical studies with new drugs to demonstrate the effect of these treatments.

Muscle and nerve diseases are each individually rare diseases, which makes international cooperation essential for advances in research and treatment of these conditions. We therefore have a close collaboration with several international research groups active in the field of muscle and nerve diseases. As a group, we have developed a strong and important connection between research and clinical activities, and we actively pursue new collaborations with other stakeholders, such as patient organisations, regulators and the pharmaceutical industry. Only by all working together will we succeed in creating a better future for our patients.

"With your valuable support, our team can conduct targeted research to optimise care and treatments for patients with muscle and nerve diseases, improve their quality of life and offer them new hope for the future."
